YAMA Bags are entirely handmade with recycled materials. This means that every bag is unique and thus one of a kind. This wonderful Ethical brand originates from Italy and are providing an awareness of ethical fashion in Europe. All the vinyl records used, are old records retrieved from friends and acquaintances, strictly scratched and damaged before re-using them – the good ones are for listening!!!!!
The Yama Idea
The first Yama bag had been sewn in a craft market at the bilancino Lake (close to Florence) using two beautiful 10” vinyl records and a piece of leather, that was all without anything to close it.
Gradually they improved their first project, making their bags bigger, more comfortable and safe thanks to the zipper closure.
The fabrics they use to make straps, handles and interiors, come from jeans (but really old jeans), velvet (form skirts and trousers) and even old hammocks often baited by our dogs, the leather or eco-leather comes from manufacturer discards of the Florence leather factories that are happy to give it to us instead of throwing it in the bins. Other small details of our objects are made of recovery materials as wire, guitar strips and whatever they fantasise they can transform into something else.
